Wedding at La Barraca del Palmar, Albufera Valencia
This wedding took place at La Barraca del Palmar, a traditional venue set inside Albufera Natural Park, near Valencia. With open views over the rice fields and direct access to the water at the back of the venue, it feels deeply connected to the landscape and the slower rhythm of this part of Valencia.
The day began elsewhere, in a much more intimate way. Silvia and Alejandro got ready in their respective family homes, surrounded by the people closest to them. Those first hours were calm and emotional, full of small gestures, conversations and quiet anticipation. Photographing these moments away from the venue allowed the story to start gently, grounded in family and familiarity, before moving into the shared celebration.
Celebrating a wedding at La Barraca del Palmar feels less like attending a formal event and more like sharing a meaningful day together. Long conversations, real food cooked slowly, friends laughing in the shade, and time moving without pressure. You can easily imagine sitting around a table, enjoying an authentic seafood paella, surrounded by familiar faces, warm light and the quiet presence of nature. Everything feels local, honest and deeply rooted in the place.
While guests waited seated in the shade next to the barraca, Alejandro stood by the ceremony space as Silvia arrived by boat from El Palmar. She crossed the water with her brother and was welcomed at the dock by her father before walking towards the ceremony. It was a simple and emotional moment, calm and full of meaning, and it set the tone for the entire day.
As a wedding photographer, what draws me to places like La Barraca del Palmar is the way moments unfold naturally. After the ceremony, the celebration continued with a relaxed cocktail among friends, followed by a shared meal and a joyful atmosphere. Everything was beautifully coordinated by Balún Party Planner, whose work blended seamlessly with the surroundings and added warmth and coherence to the day.
As the light changed over the rice fields and the water reflected the sky, the celebration found its own rhythm. Some moments were quiet, others full of laughter and movement, and all of them felt real. This is the kind of wedding that stays with you not because of spectacle, but because of how it feels. Intimate, relaxed, and full of life, with space to celebrate deeply and enjoy every moment together.
